Like a camera obscura or the darkroom of a camera, BLACKROOM Art Gallery concentrates the light on the sensitive surfaces of the works of art to capture and reveal a reality, an outside world transformed through the prism of the artists it exposes.
ORENZO ART GALLERY
A space plunged in the dark entirely dedicated and devoted to art, designed as a tailor-made optical and poetic objective instrument for Olivier Dassault and Lorànt Waald, in the reflection of their approaches of light and resolutely focused on their works.
OLIVIER DASSAULT & LORÀNT WAALD
Olivier Dassault and Lorànt Waald meet at ORENZO in 2015 for a joint exhibition with the inspired title of First Connection.
A first connection which, in the ideal space of the Blackroom Art Gallery, will open four years later the field of an artistic dialogue with light as only language.
A light filtered through the prism of their imagination, metamorphosing reality through unusual mutations offering a new nature to the observed world.
A language translated and reinterpreted through a common photographic vocabulary and vision of light and colors.
Like a silver film, with photosensitive silver crystals, dye sublimations on Chromaluxe or Metal Paper prints under Altuglas of the photographer, as well as the Candies on silver leaf steel of the sculptor, share a particular sensitivity to light.
Under the various varnish layers in which the inks of the photography or the colors of the sculpture are infused, the silvery metal surfaces reflect the light outwards through these successive glazed strata and return it to a metamorphosed world.
The colors radiate a surprising luminescence. The work of art becomes source of light.
THE IMAGE TURNED INTO SCULPTURE
The sculptor’s homage, in the form of a three-dimensional anaphora, to the work and kaleidoscopic vision of the photographer artist.
The light is reflected, the image appears, is superimposed, distorted and multiplied…
Another reality is builted. Concrete illustrations of new fields of possibles…
Photography and sculpture fuse to create a single common work of art under the signature of both artists.

LIGHT FOR REVEALING THE BEAUTY OF THE WORLD
Olivier Dassault is an art photographer. He creates, often with superimpositions and multiple exposures on silver film, unique visual compositions, where light and matter compete for the soul and the poetry of the world.
He has been working for more than forty years, as a craftsman and with the support of his dedicated team, to develop his visions in his Parisian studio: the format and the development process of the image will depend on the emotion it arouses, to deliver all its strength and vitality.
Olivier Dassault’s photographs are exhibited all over the world, most recently in Paris, New York and Madrid.
They are also part of the catalogue of several museums and visual arts sites, such as the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, The Museum of Fine Arts (Houston, Texas) or The Palm Springs Art Museum (California).
Between contemplation and reflection, between optical games and search for the unknown hidden in the most ordinary objects and places, the photographer relies on light to create, like Lorànt Waald, works where reality always surprises. It is therefore not surprising that a dialogue has been established between the two artists: they both play with volumes and motifs, and offer a vision of the world where emotion comes through, in notably, the reverberations and refractions offered by the material brought to life.
For Olivier Dassault, it is always about celebrating the essential beauty of the world, fundamentally linked to the need and desire to create.
BORN TO BE WAALD
French sculptor and plastic artist, Lorànt Waald evolves between Paris and Marrakech that he discovered 20 years ago.
Co-founder of the ORENZO brand, he is at the origin of the first cacti sculptures in metal which have been burgeoning in Marrakech for 18 years and which he never stops making evolve into real works of art all over the world.
There is nothing impulsive or anarchic about Lorànt Waald’s art; on the contrary, it is thoughtful, measured and methodical in its execution and in the choice of a subject, an object or a motif that takes on the value and importance of a fetish or an icon, on which the affect is involved and applied in the metal whose austere coldness the artist tames to reveal, on the contrary, its pregnant individuality, its sensitive and generous nature.
An art that does not limit itself to taking inspiration from Nature, even less to counterfeiting it, but strives more to interpret its language for us.
A rich, inventive, universal language. The natural is sophisticated. The purest simplicity, the work of extreme complexity.
A language of extravagant shapes and exuberant colors. Far from the superfluous or coincidence, but the consequences of the constant genetic mutations that plants carry out in order to adapt themselves unequalled with the rest of the living world, and highlighted by the artist, through his mutant plant sculptures, poetic hyperboles of a field of possibilities.
